Legislative Priorities 2015

Close to 300,000 students attend the more than 600 public charter schools in Florida. In order to maintain and improve the quality of education provided by those schools, charter school advocates, principals, and parents will be asking legislators to support their school in the following ways during the 2015 legislative session which begins today – March 3, 2015.

The week in Tallahassee - February 13, 2015

FLORIDA – February 13, 2015 – A couple of interesting workshops were held this week. The House Choice & Innovation Subcommittee discussed school choice, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education focused on developing the education budget, and the K-12 Subcommittee heard from the Florida Department of Education on School Climate, which entails providing safe and supportive learning environments for Florida's students.

Student Leadership Academy Ranked Among the Best Schools in Florida - Niche Ranking

Student Leadership Academy in Venice has been named among Florida’s best schools, according to the 2015 Niche Ranking. Consistently rated an “A” school, the public charter school was named a “High Performing Charter School” by the Florida Department of Education.

FCPCS Scholarships for Charter School Graduates

The Dr. Carlo Rodriguez Scholarships are merit-based awards given to college-bound charter high school graduates with distinguished academic records and demonstrated financial need. FCPCS began the scholarship program in 2007 to assist qualified charter school graduates with college costs.
